The great Herblock (Herbert Block 1909-2001) is known as one of the greatest editorial cartoonists of the mid-to-late 20th century. During WWII, Herblock was stationed in New York City while in the Army, and contributed at least three cartoons to Newsmap. This particular Newsmap, from November 20, 1944, features a map of the Philippines on the front, smaller maps and news on the back, and a wonderful large multi-part Herblock cartoon when the piece is opened up. The map measures 17½”x 11¾” when closed, so you can image how large the Herblock cartoon is when opened. The piece is in remarkably good condition given its age, with only one small tear. The map has, of course, the usual folds that a map has, and will be shipped folded closed as it was originally. A wonderful historical document from WWII. $45.00 + 9.00 Priority shipping.
