Thor is defeated by Ego-Prime in this John Buscema Bronze age finale page from Thor #201 (1972). Ego-Prime, the man-like evolution of Ego, the Living Planet, made his first full appearance in the issue featuring this story, Thor #202. Ego-Prime had appeared in cameo roles in Thor #199 and #201. Ego, the Living Planet, had been introduced by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby back in Thor #132-#133 (1966). Ego was just introduced to movie audiences in the hugely successful Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, now in theaters. The Ego shown in the movie is mostly shown as a human-sized male portrayed by Kurt Russel, more similar to Ego-Prime.
