What more can I say about the great Gaar Williams that I haven’t already said in the past? The man was simply a master of pen & ink, tossing it around like it was a part of his DNA. In this Among the Folks in History panel from October 4, 1923, two young kids are disappointed to discover that the “sody” fountain is closed for the winter, and that they’ll have to come back in the spring. The pen work in this panel is gorgeous, and is from Williams’ best period, which to my mind was the late 1910s and into the early 1920s. There was no one better at wielding pen & ink at that time. Measuring 13”x 11”, the cartoon is in Fine+ condition, tape remnants on one edge on the reverse, and a very, very light stain on the front. It is so light that you really have to search for it. Great stuff by one of my favorite cartoonists. $150.00 + 11.00 Priority shipping.
