Win Mortimer drew this two-page saga of the "The Vampire Viscount of France" for Marvel's Bronze Age black and white horror magazine, Vampire Tales. It appeared in #5, which came out in 1974. It tells the tale of a child-slaying vampire. Mortimer does an excellent job creating the appropriate mood for such a grim subject. Win Mortimer had a long career in comic books that extended from the Golden Age into the Bronze Age. He worked for DC on Superman and Batman related features from 1945 until the early 70s. He then began working for Marvel where among other achievements, he drew all 57 issues of Spidey Super Stories. His ability to adapt from something like the light-hearted Spidey stories to the grimness of Marvel's black and white horror books demonstrates a significant amount of flexibility.
